We also helped supply over 100 Florida Native plants to a most excellent rain garden and pollinator education station.
Special thanks to the many contributors and volunteers who helped transform the garden into a more robust Florida native plant showcase, serving as a buffer for the Indian River Lagoon while providing vital habitat for pollinators, birds, and other local wildlife.
Benefits
Native plants do not need irrigation, fertilizer, or pesticides, which reduces harmful runoff pollution.
Restores biodiversity that sod lawns cannot support.
Increases infiltration of rainwater, replenishing groundwater.
Offers seasonal color, unique textures, and a more natural aesthetic reflecting Florida’s natural heritage.
A Powerful Earth Day!
In Celebration of Earth Day, 220 GWA volunteers removed over a ton of trash and debris from 23 miles of Indian River Lagoon shorelines.
The event served as an educational opportunity, raising awareness of pollution sources and inspiring ongoing conservation efforts.
The collected data and visibility of this effort provide momentum for policy change and increased environmental support, sending a message that every piece of trash removed counts—and that collective action leads to measurable results.
Thank you to all the sponsors, partners, and especially the volunteers who made this event a fantastic success!
We look forward to what we can accomplish with you at our next large-scale cleanup, Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Human activities on land are indeed poisoning ecosystems and waterways. The cumulative impact of construction, urbanization, industrial processes, deforestation, climate change, and improper waste and water management has led to significant environmental challenges. Mitigating these impacts requires comprehensive strategies, including sustainable practices, effective regulation, public awareness, and global cooperation to conserve and restore natural ecosystems.
Improving our planet is fun! Are you ready to engage? We empower you to become a contributor to the cause. With your help we will enhance our natural water resources and green spaces through community engagement, education, sustainable practices, and innovative solutions.
